  • A dive and lots of bubbles

I am a frog and from the shore I dive into the green pond where I was born and still live today without many worries.

This painting has a particular charm, for the cheerfulness and lightness of the frog, a free animal, in perfect harmony with its natural habitat.

The green of the water and the bubbles created in the dive, in contrast with the blue of the sky and the transparency of the waves and drops produced on the surface, are the perfect environment in which to play and live happily.

  • Lisbon Tram

After a couple of Friday nights I really wanted to try to paint a subject by myself, which I took from the folder of postcards intended for watercolors and which I usually buy during my travels.

Lisbon Trams are certainly a fun element, on which to play and practice the use of color. My idea was to make the tram appear from the fog, from the front and in one of those small uphill streets that characterize this poetic and highly inspiring City.

Obviously, it is not easy for a neophyte to invent from scratch.

  • The first oil painting

I have to be grateful to my art teacher Massimo Fontanini, who for many Friday evenings held a course at the Atellier Crespi in Via Brera, and allowed me to know, appreciate and acquire many oil painting techniques.

It was he who proposed the first subject to draw and paint. Two “red apples” that were the first oil painting, the first challenge in oil painting.

The test was to represent on canvas two products of the earth of which we have a usual knowledge and of which anyone can easily evaluate the result in terms of: roundness, color, result of light and depth.

Not everything is perfect, but the combination of details and the painting is interesting.

  • Miss. Dior

After his first years as an illustrator and then as a Designer at Maison Piguet, in 1946 Christian Dior and Marcel Boussac founded the fashion house in Paris on Avenue Montaigne. The following year he presented his first Spring-Summer collection to the public. Luisa and I visited La Galerie Dior this year (2022) in December, where this dress is exhibited, from which a photo was taken at the time that I interpreted. In the original photo the dress is completely black.

  • Giardini BAM – Medical Evidence card

Every year, the Medical Evidence Division of MeTMi S.r.l. (ECM Standard Provider n. 5 of the Italian Ministry of Health) produces 8,000 copies of an identification card, sent to each healthcare professional who has participated in the Refresher Courses.

The cards, which reproduce each year the work of an internationally renowned author selected by a jury of experts, have become a collector’s item over time. This is also thanks to their personalization with the name of the participant.

In 2024, the work depicted on the cards was the painting “Giardini BAM – Gae Aulenti“.

  • Giardini BAM – Gae Aulenti

It’s a surprise. A green meadow in bloom in the center of Milan, all to be discovered and appreciated. A walk that, after an unlikely square crowded with glass buildings and spires, leads you to the heart of a park that you don’t expect to find in the center of a metropolitan city.

A spectacular view of nature where the soul unfolds and people stop in surprise to admire a nature that until recently had been forgotten.

This work was used in 2024 for the printing of the “Attendance Cards” of the participants in the ECM Courses of Medical Evidence – Milan (see link)

  • Every woman is a gift to humanity

The birth of a baby girl is a reward that the Good Lord gives to humanity. It is life that prescribes its future. In the past, newlyweds were told “Best wishes and male children”. Today, I cannot say whether this wish is still appropriate!

Our generation has finally equalized the two sexes and, at least in the Western world, inclusiveness is at least a sought-after value.

Often, women have extrasensory abilities and a determination that surpasses the faculties of men. However, they are more fragile beings, requiring attention and a lot of love.

An advanced civilization respects these differences and does not pretend to homologate the two genders. Because men and women are similar but different. Pretending that they are “equal” is a forcing that in any case nature will recompose in its initial form over time, no matter how many pretexts are sought to make it appear different.

I made this painting (the 15th) for a friend of mine, one of the most well-known and expert Senologists in Milan, Dr. Giuliano Lucani.

  • Phalaenopsis

For her birthday, my father-in-law Marco gave Luisa a beautiful white Orchid.

It was August 26th and we put it on the garden table near the kitchen. Lots of light and protected from water and cold. Today, almost two months after its arrival, the plant is still there. Majestic and proud in its unchanged whiteness.

I imagine it like this, a synthesis of all the flowers in the garden, a summary of the life and colors that surround us, lots of light and some dark shades.

  • The escape of the Ox

This race is held in Montefalco in Umbria. Each district trains and cares for an Ox throughout the winter, to then have it compete in August against the other districts. The bearers cheer their ox between two wings of the crowd and run at speed along a path traced in a large, rugged field. The ox that covers its path in the shortest time while respecting the boundaries of its lane will be the “champion”.

  • Fighting the night together

The invisible ones. We pass by them, we pass them at every corner of Milan. The city is full of these people who have left the world and live their solitary life. Many times the only companion is hairy, silent and patient, with whom they manage to spend the night sharing a little warmth and affection.
