  • Pruning and Rebirth: The Breath of the Vine

In the heart of my garden I planted a Vine, a silent but eloquent companion. Its roots sink into the earth, seeking nourishment and stability, while its shoots stretch toward the sky, longing for light. If cared for with care and by an expert hand, the Vine blooms with surprising generosity: between October and November it is covered in brightly colored bunches. It is a miracle that is renewed, year after year. In December, severe pruning seems like an act of deprivation, but it is only a promise of rebirth. In March, the Vine responds with tears, tears of sap that herald new shoots, tendrils and trembling leaves, a hymn to life that does not give up.

I chose to grow the Vine because I love Wine, that ancient gift that transforms grapes into liquid poetry. It is the nectar that warms the heart and lifts the soul, a bridge between earth and sky. As Don Luca Passarini, head of communications for the Diocese of Verona, said: “It really seems that in Paradise we will drink wine”. And Jesus himself, in the Gospel according to Matthew (26:29), revealed a fragment of eternity to us: ‘I will drink the new wine in the Kingdom of God’.
