  • The Luzzu and the Colossus

On the slow waves, a luzzu rests,
with the blue that caresses the sky,
the yellow that captures the sun,
and the red that whispers ancient stories.

    Moored at the quiet dock,
it carries with it the breath of the sea.

On the border between dream and distance,
    a giant slips away,
the container ship full of worlds,
    of stacked colors,
shaded like memories that are lost.

And while the small and the large touch each other,
    the sea unites them,
    silent guardian of every journey,
of every farewell, of every return.

I took this photo in August 2023 in Marsaxlokk on the island of Malta

This painting participated in the SMALL is BETTER! Exhibition – from 14 to 21 DECEMBER 2024 at Arte Spazio Tempo, Campo del Ghetto Nuovo, Cannaregio 2877, Venice.

  • Ascension to the Light: The City’s Arms Reaching to the Sky

In a weave of stone and light, the Sagrada Familia stands majestically, a silent hymn to verticality. Its naves, wrapped in an embrace of iridescent colors, vibrate under the gentle touch of the sun. The light, like a golden liquid, slides between the columns and rises, triumphant, upwards, carrying the soul of the city with it.

The invisible arms of the crowd, hidden among the reflections of the stained glass windows, rise in a silent cry of gratitude. It is an act of devotion, a spontaneous impulse of those who feel small in the face of the immense and yet called to participate in the divine.

In this sacred space, the earth seems to yield to the will of the sky, and the cathedral becomes a bridge between the world and eternity. Every color, every ray of light is a message that crosses time, a prayer of thanksgiving that rises towards infinity.

  • After the night, the work is not finished

The previous night, I had already gone out fishing, and now a new night is approaching. In the meantime, the work is not finished yet: I have to fix the nets, the most precious tool for my trade. Life is an arduous journey; the Good Lord gave me the sea, but he also asked me to work hard to earn my bread. I do it willingly, both because I have to earn my bread every day, and because I wouldn’t know what else to do if not fight for my destiny and seek happiness with it.

  • The warriors of light

The imposing towers, the buildings that challenge each other to touch the sky.
They are the modern giants, warriors of steel and glass.
They fight a centuries-old battle, trying to outdo each other.
And yet, in their effort, they create a symphony of lines and shapes that enchants anyone who observes them.
The city is a climb upwards, a journey of aspirations and ambitions.
Every window, every balcony, is a promise of opportunity.
The streets intertwine like paths of adventure, and anyone who walks them is part of this search for life.

Oil Painting 70 x 100 – all with a spatula except for the sky and the steel cables that were finished with a brush – made from November 2023 to March 2024
