Harmony and Contrasts: A Reflection on Food and Nature

Image of a slice of toasted bread on a marble table, with an open jar of honey and a spoon dripping honey onto the table. A robin watches closely.

A visual context that evokes naturalness and simplicity. Honey, golden and shiny, represents the sweetness and abundance of nature, with sensations of warmth and welcome, quality and goodness of natural foods.

Honey dripping freely onto the table, a symbol of opulence. Where abundance can sometimes lead to less appreciation and greater waste of resources.

The robin, attentive and involved, as a metaphor for the attention that the “Good God” has in providing food for all living beings, is the element in nature that plays a leading role, reflecting on the balance and interdependence between living species.

Invitation to greater awareness and gratitude for the gifts of nature. Reflection on the urgent need to improve our relationship with food and nature, reducing waste.

The painting was selected among the 12 finalists of the “Contemporaneamente Sapori e Arte” Competition and exhibited at the Galleria Pallavicini 22 in Ravenna from 17 to 22 September 2024.
